Godzone Photography was established in 2023. It is a fine art business showcasing New Zealand's world famous South Island through spectacular landscape and wildlife photographs. All artwork is created by landscape and nature photographer, Peter Wright.

Peter Wright is a landscape photographer based in Rangiora, a town in North Canterbury, New Zealand. He is a self-taught artist, driven by his love of the outdoors, his care for the natural beauty of New Zealand’s South Island, and (in his words) his “severe addiction to photography.” 

Peter’s photographic career has progressed rapidly. He was drawn to art and graphic design at school but was encourage into maths and science instead. Finally following his dream in 2021, Peter began snapping pictures on his iPhone. Within a year he had upgraded to a Canon-R5 with a range of lenses (macro, couple of wide angles, telephoto, etc) and joined the Rangiora Photographic Society, of which he is now a board member.

Peter taught himself photography through a combination of fixation and learning by repetition. He would take the same photograph over and over again, pausing every time he was near the particular (often out of the way) locations. Each time he took a photo, he would be searching for a better angle, a better spot, a time of the day with just the right light. As his skill grew and he got better gear, his photos improved in quality, clarity, and visual beauty.

When he’s not in the shop, Peter spends his time exploring the diverse landscapes of New Zealand’s South Island, from the rugged mountains and vast open spaces to the serene lakes and lush forests. His spectacular photographic wall art is available for sale, each piece a testament to Peter’s skill and dedication to his craft, as well as his deep connection to the landscapes he photographs.
